Kelly Clarkson is pulling the plug on her almost seven-year marriage to music manager Brandon Blackstock. The singer filed for divorce from her husband, citing irreconcilable differences.

Kelly Clarkson's marriage could be one of the unions that have been tested by the coronavirus pandemic. Since the lockdown started, there were rumors that several celebrities have been struggling in keeping their marriage while staying at home with their spouses.

Fans have known that since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown started, the Blackstock family is spending time together at Kelly's ranch in Montana along with Brandon's two children from his previous marriage. Clarkson recorded her daily television program there as well as her appearances on The Voice.

In the court documents obtained by media outlets, the American Idol winner filed for divorce in Los Angeles court earlier this month. Clarkson is also requesting joint legal and physical custody of the children.

The couple has two kids together, River Rose, 5, and Remington Alexander, 4. Blackstock has two more children from his previous marriage, Savannah, 18, and Seth, 13.

The pair got married in October 2013. The documents also reportedly indicated that Kelly and Brandon have a prenuptial agreement.

Prior to the news of divorce, there were already rumors that the couple is  having marital problems after it was revealed that they recently put their family home on the market. The Blast reported that Clarkson and Blackstock have listed their $10 million home in Los Angeles last month.

Moreover, the "Since U Been Gone" singer has been very vocal about the challenges that she has been dealing with at home since everyone was forced to stay at home. Clarkson admitted that her patience has been tested while in quarantine when she spoke about her broken dryer at home.

Then the Grammy winner talked about how "insane" it was spending all day long at home with the kids. In an interview with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY, the two-time Daytime Emmy Awards winner said she has been juggling several tasks such as cooking and cleaning, and at the same time homeschooling her kids.

Clarkson told the hosts that viewers saw her at her shows making jokes and smiling all the time. Clarkson, however, admitted that staying at home for so long is hard especially for people like her who have a very active everyday schedule.

Over the past years, Kelly and Brandon have busy careers. Aside from being a coach on The Voice, Clarkson has also been hosting her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. Blackstock, on the other hand, works as a music manager. He manages Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and other singers.
