Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially turned their backs on being senior royals at the end of March. Earlier this year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world when they announced that they are stepping down from their roles to live a “peaceful life,” be “financially independent,” and more.
After Queen Elizabeth approved their withdrawal, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle packed their bags and moved to the US. The couple is currently residing in Los Angeles with their son Archie. And according to a new report, this move will have a huge impact on the one-year-old’s life if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to go their separate ways in the future.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are enjoying their married life after they said their “I dos” back in 2018. But royal expert Lady Colin Campbell suggests that if ever the pair would end up in Splitsville, Archie would be “trapped” in the US for a long time.
“If they set up operations in America, and there is a separation and/or divorce, unless Meghan agrees to the baby coming back to live in England, the baby is trapped in America until he is 18,” she said.
Meanwhile, a previous report claimed that Prince Harry opened up about the changes in his life after his Royal exit with Meghan Markle. The Duke of Sussex, reportedly, confessed that he couldn’t believe that his life "turned upside down.”
Although Queen Elizabeth showed support to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision, she still has the last say before they go. Her Majesty allowed them to step back, but she gave them a couple of deals and the Duke of Sussex appeared to be really upset with one of them.
Even though the couple will still be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they can “no longer formally represent” Queen Elizabeth in their new lives. Also, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not only lose their HRH titles, but Prince William’s brother will lose his military titles as well, which deeply upset him, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams.
He added that even though it appears that Prince Harry is ready to move on from his senior royal obligations to being a non-working royal, he may miss his old life in the future. The Duke of Sussex is royal by birth, and being a prince had always been a part of him.
