Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world when they announced earlier this year that they will step down as senior royals. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex explained that they wish to focus more on their family and charity, live a more “peaceful life,” be “financially independent,” and more.
Now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are residing in Los Angeles after they officially withdrew from their roles at the end of March. There are many speculations regarding their withdrawal, but actor Laurence Fox believes that it may be because the former actress was “denied limelight” in the UK.
"Meghan Markle might, just might, have left for other reasons,” he said during his appearance on Question Time. “I wondered whether her departure might have had something to do with her being denied the limelight she craved.”
Laurence Fox then noted that Meghan Markle’s background as an actress gave her an “enormous ego” and the “desire to be the center of attention.” After not getting what she wanted in the UK, the 42-year-old English actor, singer-songwriter, and guitarist claimed that the Duchess of Sussex suddenly didn’t want to be a part of Prince Harry’s world.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer working royals, which gives them all the time in the world to work on projects that they personally choose. Since the Duchess of Sussex was a part of the Hollywood scene before meeting and tying the knot with the younger son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana in 2018, it makes a lot of sense that the couple is heading towards the entertainment industry for their new life. But due to the current coronavirus pandemic lockdown, the couple will have to wait to get their chance to meet with Hollywood’s finest.
Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their withdrawal, the former actress gave everyone a taste of their possible future job by lending her voice to a Disney documentary titled Elephant back in August last year, which is about elephants in Africa. A video also showed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with Bob Iger at the London premiere of The Lion King, where the pair hinted their interest in working with the Disney CEO.
Unfortunately for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, their LA plans came to a screeching halt due to the coronavirus outbreak. The global health crisis led to an implemented lockdown, which left the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with no choice but to stay home instead of pursuing their goals in the US.
