Tottenham star Harry Kane is still shooting for a Premier League title but apart from that, the striker is gunning to be lined up with the likes of Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney. The two are legends in English football and are the only players to have scored over 200 in the competition. Kane said his target is to be counted with the best of the best.
Playing against West Ham on Tuesday, the Spurs marksman scored his goal No. 137 in the league and Kane is looking forward to reaching his aim of clearing the 200-mark. After that, it's only logical to break Wayne's record of 208 goals, and if time permits, shoot down the 260 cleared by the legendary Shearer.
Kane is convinced he has the time and the capability to make his personal a reality.
According to BBC, the England captain noted he just played his 200th game with Tottenham and he is still young so the target is all there to be achieved.
"I'm still only 26 so hopefully I can get to that 200 mark sooner rather than later and go from there ... Scoring is the best feeling in the world," the Tottenham striker was reported as saying.
He appears to be en route to another impressive season despite getting sidelined in January due to an injury. Already, the England international has 12 goals in all competition and his manager, Jose Mourinho, seemed confident of Kane hitting his mark.
Per the Portuguese boss, Kane sweats a lot when training and actually playing on the pitch so making his dreams real is nothing new. Mourinho said that with the Spurs talisman in the best of health, there will be good things to come for him and the club.
However, there were observations Kane was tentative during the match with Manchester United Friday last week. The game ended in a draw and Kane failed to register on the scoreboard.
Goal said it was nearly the same performance from the star in the following game versus West Ham. Again, Kane appeared far from his usual form and there were numerous instances that he could have scored, though eventually, he did.
The match was won and thanks to Kane, the Spurs are now just a point behind United, indicating that the chance remains for the club to qualify next season to the Champions League.
Still, there is the perception that Kane's form is still off, which the player has dismissed. The captain said he has been working doubly hard in his rehab and he is certainly as fit as ever.
