Liverpool is aware that they may be losing their grip on Sadio Mane, someone who could leave this summer. He has been a vital piece for Jurgen Klopp this season but it appears his days are numbered. The 28-year-old has been offered revised deals by the Red but Mane has shown no interest in signing a new lease. Though his deal runs through 2023, Klopp wants to know if he is committed to staying at Anfield.

Though Klopp prefers to keep Mane, a potential departure is something he needs to consider. And should the inevitable happen, it appears the Reds are already mapping out a plan. According to the Sun, it appears Liverpool is trying to work out a deal Paris Saint-Germain on a possible swap involving Mane and Kylian Mbappe. PSG is one of the teams who are interested in Mane although it remains to be seen if they are willing to sacrifice Mbappe. The other team pursuing Mane is Real Madrid.

The interest in Mane is not surprising. He was acquired by Liverpool in 2016 following a $42 million deal with Southhampton. Since then, he has proven to be a prize addition. In 161 games, the Senegalese winger has made 77 goals. He was also a key piece in Liverpool’s Champions League triumph last season. With the mileage he has shown, it is not surprising that Klopp wants to keep him at all costs. The last contract offered to him was reportedly in the vicinity of $274,000 a week.

Klopp made it clear that he prefers to stick with Mane. But if push comes to shove, he may have to move to plan B. Incidentally, Liverpool has linked to the 21-year-old some months ago. The only problem then was that budget constraints stood in the way. Ironically, it is an issue that Liverpool and other teams are dealing with at the moment.

Even more interesting is the fact that Real Madrid almost landed Mbappe back in April. A deal was allegedly close to being sealed until the COVID-19 pandemic entered the picture. Hence, the deal bogged down and nothing has been revived since then. However, it appears that the only thing certain is Mbappe is headed out the door.

With two teams, Liverpool and PSG, dealing with exiting players, a swap makes sense. Mbappe and Mane have not been in transfer news that much as of late but the scenario could change in the coming months.
