Prince Charles is, reportedly, regretting that he will not be able to see his son, Prince Harry, and his family. The Duke of Sussex moved to Los Angeles in March with Meghan Markle and their baby, Archie Harrison, and there was apparently not a lot that the Prince of Wales could do with the separation.

According to royal biographer Nigel Cawthorne, Prince Charles most likely offered to financially support Prince Harry and Meghan so that they would not have to leave. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have their plans all set to step back from the royal family and find a way to earn a private income.

Apparently, Prince Charles had no choice but to let Prince Harry and Meghan lead with their lives. Cawthorne went on to say that what Prince Charles regrets the most is not seeing Prince Harry, Meghan and Archie join family traditions.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are trying to strike it on their own in the U.S. Cawthorne said that because of this, Prince Charles might not try to persuade Prince Harry to return to The Firm.

The royal biographer said that the Prince of Wales now believes that the outcome following the separation is better. The number of working royals has been trimmed down, which has been Prince Charles' plan for the monarchy.

In 2019, a source told the Daily Star that Prince Charles wanted the future working royals to just involve him, Prince William, Prince Harry and their wives. Around that time, his brother Prince Andrew was knee-deep in the scandal involving Jeffrey Epstein's pedophilia case, prompting the Duke of York to resign as a working royal.

Royal observers said that the process of trimming down the monarchy was made easier when Prince Andrew stepped back. The report stated that Prince Charles was telling their mother, Queen Elizabeth, to let his brother resign.

But by the next month, Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they will also be stepping back amid the pressures of royal life. They also said that they plan on living half of their time in North America, which means Prince Charles won't be able to personally watch his grandson Archie grow up.

However, in March, sources said that Prince Charles and Prince Harry's relationship remain "rock solid" despite their separation. The Duke of Sussex still heeds to his father's advice.
