According to a new report, Apple suppliers are poised to compete with each other to secure manufacturing orders for the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-Inch MacBook Pro with a mini-LED display. For several weeks, multiple rumors and leaks surfaced online claiming that the Cupertino tech giant is planning to release its next MacBook Pro series with a new kind of display. Apparently, these upcoming models might enter into production and launch in the early part of next year.

14-Inch MacBook Pro With Mini-LED Display

The latest information about the 14-inch MacBook Pro comes from the Taiwanese research firm TrendForce. According to the report, Apple's transition to a mini-LED display will begin with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in 2021. The research firm also notes that the Cupertino company will begin sourcing Mini-LED technology suppliers for both the 16-inch and the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

Whispers online of a 14-inch MacBook Pro started to make rounds when Apple replaced the 15-inch MacBook Pro with a 16-inch model in 2019. TFI Securities Analyst and reliable Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo earlier mentioned that the Cupertino company wants to launch at least six products with mini-LED by 2021. Reports and rumors are starting to align with the latest report from TrendForce and the analyst's previous notes about the 16-inch and the 14-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED technology.

What Is Mini-LED Technology?

Over the past months, the industry has seen a lot of reports about Apple's plan of launching new products that use mini-Led technology. But what is this new technology, and what will can users benefit from it? Mini LED displays provide a rich wide color gamut, high dynamic range, high contrast ratios, and localized dimming.

Tech analysts believe that with mini-LED technology, designers could fashion thinner and more power-efficient panels. Additionally, mini-LED displays do not get burn-in like the widely used OLED screen. These are just some of the benefits that Apple considers in trying to focus on the company's future by offering products that utilize new display technology.

Other Details

According to the Taiwanese research firm, Apple would most likely depend on Taiwanese manufacturers for its mini-LED display needs. Through this, Apple could slowly reduce its reliance on China. Apple is one of the companies that shut down when the coronavirus hit China in the first quarter of this year.

Apart from the 16-inch and the 14-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED technology, Apple is anticipated to launch its new flagship series in September.
