It looks like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will have to wait a little longer before the legal matters between them would be finalized. Reports have it that the court proceedings of the former A-list couple have slowed down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Brad and Jolie split in September 2016. The Maleficent actress filed for divorce that same year, which means it has been almost four years since the filing. Though the court had already declared the two as legally single in April 2019, there are some aspects of their divorce that haven't been settled.
Since the divorce filing, the two have battled legally over custody and finances. There were reports that Jolie tried to get sole custody and demanded more financial support than Pitt wanted to provide. The Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor responded and asked the court for both joint legal and physical custody of their six children.
Moreover, it was also reported that Pitt blocked Jolie's plan to move out of the U.S. with their children. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar late last year, Jolie hinted at such a plan.
She admitted that she would love to live abroad but decided to stay in the U.S. for the sake of her children. The Salt actress said she needs to be in the place where Pitt chooses to live because of their custody agreement.
In 2018, they have reached a custody agreement. Brad and Angelina have six children together: Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11.
As for Brad, he has confessed to having been an alcoholic before Angelina left him. He has gotten sober since. Last year, a judge allowed the actor more time with his children.
Though there was no progress in their court proceedings at the moment, the ex-spouses are seeing some improvement in their relationship as parents. Over the past weeks, the Ad Astra actor was spotted twice at Jolie's mansion in Los Feliz, indicating that Brad visited his children.
It has been reported that Pitt and Jolie have been working on their co-parenting relationship. It also indicated that they are also more cordial to each other now. A source told People that the two are now in a more "better place" in terms of co-parenting the children after their custody battle.
The insider added that it took the family a long time to reach this point. The kids used to go back and forth between their parents' houses but now, Pitt can visit them at Jolie's house.
