Stranger Things season 4 is happening on Netflix but details about it remain scarce at the moment. Filming was forced to shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak but we could likely see everyone back as production may resume in the coming months.

According to The Hollywood ReporterStranger Things season 4 could resume production on September 17. But, it should be noted that this is only the current plan for the Netflix series so this is something that's still subjected to change.

While this is still tentative, many were optimistic filming will happen on the mentioned date. Yet, the safety of everyone remains to be the top priority right now, especially since most of the cast members are young. There could be certain health guidelines that needed to be followed before resuming filming.

In addition, the series features a lot of group scenes and intense sequences and we could likely see less of these in Stranger Things season 4. Netflix and the producers need to consider a lot of things, especially since a show like this is immersive.

Meanwhile, scripts for the new season are already done. The official writers' room of the series shared via Twitter that everything was set for the story. The post features an image of an enormous stack of paper, which is the complete script of the latest installment.

Even though the scripts are finished, it's unlikely fans will see more details in the coming weeks since the series generally has secretive crews. There is also a question of whether or not the upcoming installment will be the final one, but everything remains unclear for now.

As for the story itself, series star David Harbour hinted a big reveal about Jim Hopper's past in Stranger Things season 4. The actor told Deadline that there are some deep backstories for his character and people would see deep colors in him.

Harbour explained that Hopper is painted in "bit darker palette" and he'll express some of the deep things hinted in the previous seasons. The actor, also, teased other interesting storylines including monsters, horrors, and scares.

He further teased that production was underway for a couple of weeks prior to the global health crisis. Thus, some stories in the early part of the series are already done. Harbour added that everyone wanted to go back and start filming as soon as possible.

Stranger Things season 4 won't probably premiere this year due to the delays. Apart from the filming challenges, the series also has a lengthy post-production window. Hence, Netflix will likely decide to release the new installment at some point in 2021.
