Fans are already looking forward to big things happening in Thor: Love and Thunder. After all, it's the second Marvel Cinematic Universe film series that's getting four movies, second only to the Avengers film series.

But, when can people expect to get exciting updates about the highly anticipated MCU flick? Natalie Portman has just confirmed that the fourth Thor movie will finally begin production early next year.

The announcement of Thor: Love and Thunder was one of the truly welcome news people had at last year's San Diego Comic-Con. At the event, it was confirmed that Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as the God of Thunder while Natalie Portman will be brought back as Jane Foster who would then become the new Thor.

In addition to that, it was announced that Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi will return to helm the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. Unfortunately, there haven't been any promising updates about the project since then.

This changed when Natalie Portman took part in Serena Williams' Instagram Live chat where the two spoke about the schedules in the future. During the chat, the Thor: The Dark World actress casually revealed that she will begin working on the Marvel movie really soon.

"We're shooting in Australia at the beginning of next year," Portman told Williams. Although the Black Swan star did not confirm the exact date, it is believed that the film will begin production either in January or February 2021.

This is welcome news for fans who have been waiting for interesting updates on Thor: Love and Thunder. After all, the last bit of news about the film was that Christian Bale has been cast as the main villain although his character was not revealed. Luckily, even Taika Waititi also shared an update on the movie's script, which he claims is almost done.

"I think it's going really good. We've been writing the script off and on for over a year and... actually, this week, doing another pass on it," Waititi told BBC. "I want to make something that I've never done or never cared for. I would like to attack something like that."

Hopefully, the script for Thor: Love and Thunder will be done soon so that the cast and crew can begin shooting by early next year. In the meantime, fans can rest assured that the movie will not be delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak although production may be affected by the pandemic.

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled for release on February 11, 2022.
