The Cupertino-based tech giant might release the iPhone 12 series in a couple of different stages, according to a new report. A few days ago, Apple confirmed the rumors that this year's flagship smartphone's much-awaited debut might not happen in September. The latest news seemingly aligns with industry insiders' earlier claims on the release window of the upcoming iPhone 12 series.

iPhone 12 Series' Phased Launch Approach

The latest report about the alleged different release stages of the iPhone 12 series came from Digitimes and picked up by Macrumors. According to the publication, the Cupertino company might release the 5G iPhone 12 models in a couple of stages. The Taiwan-based publication cited supply chain sources on the alleged phased Launch approach.

The report explained that Apple might launch the two 6.1-inch iPhone 12 models in the first stage and the remaining two models (6.7-inch iPhone 12 and 5.4-inch iPhone 12) in the second phase. Supply chain sources reportedly informed the site that suppliers of substrate-like PCB mainboards for the models releasing on the first phase has already started shipments. However, the suppliers of the iPhone 12 models' component releasing on the second phase will start this month.

According to sources, shipments for the upcoming iPhone 12 models' flexible boards take around 2 to 4 weeks later than the usual this year because of the current global health crisis. Digitimes' latest report aligns with earlier rumors that the iPhone 12 would not launch on time because of delays in the development and production. There were also previous reports claiming that Apple's major suppliers, like Qualcomm and Broadcom, also encountered some delays.

iPhone 12 Models

The latest report seemingly confirms that Apple is launching four iPhone 12 models this year. According to rumors, the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 models would be this year's higher-end flagship phones. These models would reportedly feature triple rear camera configuration. The 5.4-inch and the other 6.1-inch iPhone 12 would be the lower-end models and would only feature a dual-lens rear camera setup.

Earlier, TFI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that all the iPhone 12 models arriving this year would feature 5G technology. The reliable Apple tipster believes that the company would no longer include a pair of wireless EarPods in this year's iPhone. It is worth mentioning that while this latest report about the potential release stages of the iPhone 12 is believable, it is not official. It is smarter to take this information with a pinch of salt.
