Fans haven't seen Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes together in the past couple of weeks. That's because the couple was reportedly taking some time apart.

According to In Touch, the PDA-loving couple is still very much together but only spending time apart for the meantime. Mendes is in Los Angeles at the moment while Cabello stays in Florida. The "Señorita" singers spent months in quarantine together at Camilla's home in Miami.

A source told the tabloid the couple's original plan was for both of them to travel back to L.A. However, they decided they needed to take a break from each other. The insider claimed though it is hard for both pop stars to be away from each other for a long time, they know that it will be for their own good.

The insider assured that nothing bad happened between the two while in quarantine. The tabloid claimed the lovers only realized that they needed some time apart to grow individually. The source added Shawn and Camila are also both working on their new albums.

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes made their romance public in July 2019. Since then, they've been inseparable.

Even when the "Havana" singer was in the U.K. for the filming of her debut movie, Cinderella, Mendes made it a point that they would spend Camila's 23rd birthday together. The "If I Can't Have You" crooner surprised Camila with a Cinderella-themed party with a cake in the shape of the Disney princess' carriage.

The two were last seen in public together in May when they joined protests in Miami for racial justice after the death of George Floyd. Camila's last post on IG with her boyfriend was also in May.

The former Fifth Harmony member shared a photo of them together along with her two dogs. Camila simply captioned the photo with a red heart emoji.

Meanwhile, it wasn't clear if the two celebrated Shawn's 22nd birthday on August 8 virtually. Mendes was spotted in California earlier this month which means he returned to L.A. a few weeks ago.

The "Stitches" singer was photographed leaving a filming studio in Glendale alone on August 1. Many speculated that Shawn returned to California to film a video possibly for his upcoming album.

That same day, he teased his upcoming collaboration with Fender guitars. In his post on Instagram, he said the team-up would be in line with the existing merch of the Shawn Mendes Foundation and it would benefit the organization that supports young changemakers.
