New information about Apple's next potential move following the official unveiling of the iPhone 12 series recently surfaced online. With a recent slip up possibly revealing that a possible September official debut for the iPhone 12 series happened last week, more rumors are making rounds online. The latest rumor claims that Apple might discontinue the iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone XR in 2020.

While Apple usually debuts its flagship iPhone series every September, it appears that it might happen at a much later month this year. Interestingly, after the official debut of this year's iPhone 12 series, the Cupertino company would reportedly discontinue some iPhone models, according to industry insider Apple Times. On Twitter, the insider claimed that Apple might stop producing iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone XR sometime this year.

The tipster also leaked that the iPhone 11 would retail at $549 but failed to reveal more details about this. Additionally, he did not provide any details on why the Cupertino tech titan would discontinue these iPhone models. The only possible explanation would be based on the company's strategy each time it launches a new iPhone lineup.

Apple would lower the price of other iPhone models or discontinue them whenever a new lineup is introduced. iApple Times' recent information seemingly aligns with another tip that the company plans to reduce the price of the 2020 iPhone SE along with other iPhone models. Considering that the arrival of the 2020 iPhone SE is significantly more powerful than the iPhone XR, it makes sense if Apple chooses to abandon it for the entry-level model.

Techradar reported that Apple India declined to confirm or deny the information. Apple India would be focusing on the iPhone 11 at the moment and might also get a piece of the 1Phone 12 pie in 2021, the site added. The Cupertino tech titan is anticipated to debut four new iPhone 12 models under the iPhone 12 series.

This lineup would reportedly include two premium models, which are the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.

These higher-tier variants would reportedly feature a high refresh rate of 120 Hz ProMotion display currently seen on the iPad Pro. The rear camera configuration would allegedly sport four sensors with a LiDar scanner, also available on the latest iPad Pro model. All four iPhone 12 models are anticipated to offer 5G connectivity support and OLED panels.
