The Seoul-based tech and electronics giant Samsung is reportedly planning to do some serious rescheming to its flagship offerings, according to a report. While the Galaxy Note series have made a massive impact in the smartphone industry, it appears that Samsung is planning to discontinue the lineup if the recent report is to go by. It looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 would be the company's replacement for the Note series that many consumers have grown to love.

According to the Korean publication The Elec, Samsung might discontinue the Galaxy Note series in 2021. This means that the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Plus are the last models of the series that was first launched in 2011. Samsung is planning to introduce the S Pen stylus to the Galaxy S21 or S30 series, according to the report.

According to the publication, Samsung is planning to integrate the S Pen Stylus on Galaxy S21 Ultra in an attempt to focus more on foldable without alienating the consumers. With the S Pen on the upcoming flagship smartphone, it could serve as the spiritual successor of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

When this happens, the Galaxy Note series would be redundant in the Samsung lineup since it shares minimal differences with the S Series. Meanwhile, industry insider Ishan Agarwal shared that Samsung might release the Galaxy S30 with the codename Unbound.

The said lineup consists of premium smartphones, namely M1, N2, and 03, which are bound to arrive in the first half of 2021. There are also other sites claiming that Samsung would kill the Galaxy Note series and replace it with an S-Pen enabled Galaxy Z Fold 3. If this happens, the Galaxy S series will arrive in the first half while the Galaxy Z Fold 3 series might arrive in the second half of 2021.

More than ever, Samsung has the capacity to mass-produce the Ultra Thin Glass (UTG). The company can produce 600,000 folding displays every month and intends to produce 1 million UTG per month by the end of 2020. While it is possible that the company might not be able to sell as many folding devices as it does with the Galaxy Note series, the high-profit margin could possibly offset the low number of units sold.

It is worth mentioning that these details are unofficial and unconfirmed. Samsung has not yet confirmed that it is working on Galaxy S21 or S30. In this case, it is smarter to take this information with a pinch of salt.
