Chelsea F.C. has been busy adding new faces to the roster and the next big signee will be Thiago Silva. The 35-year-old recently wrapped up his stint with Paris Saint-Germain and made it clear that the Champions League final would be his final game.

There were already rumors that the Brazilian was headed to Stamford Bridge but on a short-term deal, The Athletic reported. It appears both camps are in the final stages with the Blues set to sign Silva via free transfer. Also part of the deal is an option to extend his contract if he performs well for Frank Lampard.

There were two clubs interested in signing Silva who will be turning 36 soon. Aside from the Blues, Fiorentina was also linked to the Brazilian defender. However, the word out was that the Blues had the inside track. Considering Lampard was aggressively plucking young players to make up the club moving forward, Silva should add some veteran experience to the mix.

Already in the mix are Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. After Silva, the Blues are believed to be zeroing in on two more prospects in Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell. With the mix of young promising players, Silva has all the reasons to be excited. Aside from playing alongside these young players, he gets the chance to guide them and toughen them up next season.

With Silva's impending coming, it also means that Lampard will have to unload some of the current players in the mix. Among the players who could be displaced include Fikayo Tomori. A scenario could see the 22-year-old but put out on loan for the meantime. More names could be on the move as the Blues try to assemble a formidable cast for next season.

In the latest developments, one player who may be on the way out as well is Emerson Palmieri. The Blues are seeking $34 million for the 26-year-old player who has failed to impress Lampard.

The sale is expected to help provide funds for the impending coming of Chilwell. Chelsea needs to raise $65 million to complete the transfer of the 23-year-old left-back from Leicester City.

One team that could be interested in Emerson is Inter. I Nerazzurri expressed interest in the 26-year-old left-back but are negotiating for a lower fee of $28 million. It remains to be seen if the Blues will agree to that pitch.

Chelsea is busy trying to move current players to gain some flexibility. That includes Kepa Arrizabalaga who holds a hefty $95 million salary. He too has failed to impress Lampard as the Blues explore the market for other shot-stoppers.
