Meghan Markle and Prince Harry briefly stayed in Canada before relocating to the U.S. following their shocking royal exit early this year. Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into their new £11.2million ($14.7million) home in California.

The luxury home costs approximately £45,000 ($50,000) per month of mortgage payments. Despite Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s impressive net worths, the fee would definitely put a huge pressure on the couple to afford it comfortably.

Adding to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s pressure is the coronavirus crisis. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s plans in the U.S. came to a screeching halt due to the outbreak. Because of that, the couple had not been able to earn much money after their withdrawal from royal life.

On top of that, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry pledged to repay the £2.5million that was spent during the refurbishing of the Frogmore Cottage. However, they still haven’t paid back as of this writing and it is definitely a bad look for them to splash out on a luxury home before paying back what they owe.

Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers claimed that the Palace is nervous with what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might do going forward. He added that the nervousness increased after the news about their new multimillion-dollar home came out.

“It means is that the nervousness that had previously existed about what sort of corporate deals they will be doing, what sort of sponsorships, what sort of tie-ins they would be doing with big brands to earn money in order to facilitate this fabulously exclusive lifestyle they’ve created for themselves, that nervousness is very real indeed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s unofficial biography Finding Freedom details the frustration of the couple about royal life. Its claims suggest the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are privileged and spoiled.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are considered a power couple and the public wanted them to be a success. However, the book claims the couple didn't see their trajectory into failure. They had expected to make a fortune through royal connections but they have "achieved little."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been widely criticized since their move to Los Angeles. Some argue the two "abandoned" the U.K. during the coronavirus pandemic. With Queen Elizabeth and the royal family seen as strength and stability by many in the U.K., Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could have helped emotionally during the crisis.
