The King of Wakanda has gone over to the ancestral plane. The passing of Chadwick Boseman has been confirmed through a social media post made by his publicist.

The tragic news was confirmed through a post on Chadwick Boseman's official social media accounts. According to the post, "Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV."

It also confirmed that although Boseman was struggling with his diagnosis, he continued to work on several projects including the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

"A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy," the post reads.

It was also revealed that Chadwick Boseman passed away at home in the company of his wife and children.

It didn't take long before Chadwick Boseman's Marvel co-stars paid tribute to the actor. Zoe Saldana, who appeared in Avengers: Endgame with Boseman, left a heartfelt comment on the post on Instagram

"The classiest avenger and most quiet warrior. My heart is heavy right now. I wished I had the courage to tell you how your performance of T'Challa was the best portrayal of a King I had ever seen. Rest in Power and Grace Brother. My sons will know your name forever!" Saldana wrote.

Mark Ruffalo also left an inspirational comment on the post on Twitter. "It was the highest honor getting to work with you and getting to know you. What a generous and sincere human being. You believed in the sacred nature of the work and gave your all. Much love to your family. And much love from all of us left here," Ruffalo wrote.
