Michelle Obama and Barack Obama will celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary next month. Over the years, the public has witnessed how much they love and respect each other. Some publications even assert that their relationship has continued to inspire a lot of people today.

But, just like any married couple, they started as friends. They were colleagues first before they became partners. By the time that the former First Lady brought her then-boyfriend home to meet her family, her mother, Marian Robinson, had a "shocking" admission about the former United States President.

Speaking to Michelle Obama on The Michelle Obama podcast, her brother Craig Robinson "confessed" that Barack Obama "impressed" the matriarch of the family when they first met him. He said that, when Barack got out of the passenger side, Marian Robinson stated that "he is tall," adding that her future son-in-law is "kinda good looking."

While their mother seemed happy and deemed Michelle's then-boyfriend great, the former First Lady's brother revealed that he was "cautious" at first of Obama. He explained to his sister that she dated "one or two guys" that he did not like.

Craig added that Michelle was usually a "short term dating." Regardless, he said that her decisions were "solid" even at a young age.

Insider previously reported that Michelle Obama was only 25 years old when she met Barack Obama. They were colleagues at the law firm, Sidley Austin LLP, where the young Michelle Robinson became a mentor to her future husband, who was 28 years old, at that time.

In previous interviews, the former First Lady said that they assigned her to him because they both went to Harvard. She added that the firm likely thought of hooking them up since they both graduated from the same university.

Despite being his mentor, the publication said that it did not stop Barack Obama from asking Michelle Obama to go on a date. After a month of working together, the former U.S. President, reportedly, asked her out. However, she deemed it "tacky," so she refused at first. But, eventually, she "relented" and they went on a date.

About two years later, Barack passed the bar exam. In what she thought of a celebratory dinner, her then-boyfriend proposed and asked her hand in marriage.

On October 3, 1992, they tied the knot, and from Robinson, she officially became an Obama. Six years later, they welcomed their first child, Malia. Sasha, their second daughter, arrived in their lives in 2001.
