Prince Philip retired at the age of 96 after serving the monarchy for decades. While he now lives away from the royal world, he is surely aware of the drama surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s withdrawal.

Now, a royal biographer claims that Prince Philip is disappointed in Prince Harry’s new Hollywood life. The Duke of Edinburgh had a strong sense of duty, and never used his old age and frail health as an excuse to not complete his royal duties. However, the Duke of Sussex seeks to shrug off his past and carve out a new life in the U.S.

Ingrid Seward wrote that Prince Philip had a hard time understanding as to what was making Prince Harry's life so unbearable. "As far as Philip was concerned, Harry and Meghan had everything going for them: a beautiful home, a healthy son, and a unique opportunity to make a global impact with their charity work,” she noted.

Even though Prince Philip is already retired, he maintains a strong sense of royal duty, which he probably didn’t see in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams previously shared that the Duke of Edinburgh also had to give up his career to support Queen Elizabeth. But instead of living his life complaining about being a part of the royal family, he decided to make the most out of it.

While Prince Philip remained silent regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal exit, Richard Fitzwilliams shared that he is not too pleased with how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did their announcement. The royal expert said that the Duke of Edinburgh may have taken the whole thing with "a dim view.”

Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been talking with senior royals about their intention to step back since the summer, their announcement blindsided Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Philip may have not appreciated that.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are slowly settling in their new lives in the U.S. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex just moved into their new £11.2million ($14.7million) home in California. The luxury home costs approximately £45,000 ($50,000) per month of mortgage payments.

Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers claimed that the Palace is nervous with what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might do going forward. He added that the nervousness increased after the news about their new multimillion-dollar home came out.
