Michelle Obama has become one of the most influential women today. Even years after her time as the United States First Lady, many people have continued to take her as an inspiration, and one of them is reportedly Meghan Markle.

Reports claimed that the Becoming author likely "influenced" the Duchess of Sussex to pursue their exit from the royal life. Several individuals think that she has become a "mentor" to the former Suits actress, according to the Daily Express.

Susannah Butter explained earlier this year that Meghan Markle has "long admired" Michelle Obama. The assertions, reportedly, come after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their decision to step down as senior royals.

The journalist said that Obama and Markle have similar experiences, particularly with their husbands. They both "questioned" the scrutiny that comes from Prince Harry and Barack Obama's respective jobs. She added that they have tried to use their posts and platforms to "carve out progressive roles."

Aside from carving out their own paths using their respective stages, the former First Lady and the Duchess of Sussex have, also, "pushed back" against their respective husbands' historic roles. While Michelle Obama did not think it was great for Barack Obama to run, Meghan Markle thought that the royal life was "damaging."

Barack's wife previously shared the advice that she always gives to her two daughters. Reports said that this extends to the Duchess of Sussex, as well.

She has suggested for them to not check the boxes that they are "supposed to check." Instead, they should trust their "intuition" in finding their place in the world.

Several speculations emerged claiming that the Sussex couple has taken it as an inspiration to their decision to leave the royal life. They, reportedly, "echoed" Obama's suggestion when they revealed their plans to establish a new role outside the British Monarchy.

For starters, Michelle Obama and Meghan Markle first met in December 2018. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex attended a discussion between the former First Lady and feminist writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in Southbank Center, according to Harper's Bazaar

After the talk, sources claimed that the Becoming author and the former actress met "in a private capacity." They spent some time and "chatted for a long time," adding that the two women were very close.

Some publications reported that the pair discussed several matters including their "shared causes," including women empowerment and "girls' education." They, also, talked about a few personal things, such as pregnancy and kids, noting that the Duchess was pregnant at that time.
