The highly anticipated AMD Big Navi has these killer specifications that could beat the recently launched Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, according to a new leak.

The alleged specifications of the AMD Big Navi graphics card were recently uncovered in the latest Linux update. Based on the leak, it appears that AMD's upcoming GPU could challenge the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. These specs were courtesy of a Reddit user who dug around the Radeon Open Compute code and uncovered the specs of the two AMD next-generation graphics cards.

The said listing on the firmware update reveals that the AMD graphics cards are based on the new RDNA 2 architecture. The AMD Big Navi GPUs are listed under the codenames Navy Flounder and Sienna Cichlid. These are allegedly the AMD Big Navi 21 and AMD Big Navi 22 or 23 graphics cards.

According to Tom's Hardware, the leak reveals an interesting tidbit about the AMD Big Navi. Essentially, the upcoming GPU would use a 256-bit memory bus and feature 80 compute units. Every CU or compute unit works out at 64 steam processors, which means that 80 CUs is equivalent to 5120 steam processors.

While one could not compare the AMD Big Navi steam processors with the CUDA cores of Nvidia, the 5,120 steam processors are quite a lot. Taking into consideration the 7nm process that the RDNA 2 uses, there is a good chance that the AMD Big Navi could be as powerful as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, and even offer more efficiency.

In regards to the Navy Flounder, it seems to be AMD's replacement of the Radeon RX 5700 XT, but with the newer RDNA 2 architecture. This latest architecture supports real-time ray tracing. At this point, details of the performance or pricing of the upcoming graphics card are not yet available.

The AMD Big Navi is anticipated to challenge the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, and it looks like the latest Linux listing confirmed that. Interestingly, the AMD Big Navi is still over a month away, which gives the company ample time to fine-tune the graphics card. It is still too early to say how these recently leaked details relate to the performance of the AMD Big Navi or if they are accurate.

Rumors have it that AMD Big Navi would not be far from the performance of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. It would definitely make some interesting competition if these rumors were true. AMD is anticipated to launch the Big Navi on October 28.
