One of the best things about the Star Wars prequel trilogy films is its amazing cast. In addition to Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christiansen, Natalie Portman, and Samuel L. Jackson, Keira Knightley was one of the talented actors who appeared in the movies.
Although Knightley's character Sabé did not appear in other live-action films since Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Padmé Amidala's handmaiden has since made an appearance in books and comics. But, is it possible that Knightley will eventually reprise her role in a Disney+ series?
Sabé is one of Padme Amidala's most notable handmaidens in the Star Wars prequels, having portrayed the loyal decoy who would take the Queen's place several times in The Phantom Menace. Since then, Sabe's loyalty was once again proven as she appears in books like Queen's Peril and Queen's Shadow as well as the recent Darth Vader comic books.
But, is it finally time for the handmaiden to return to live-action? There are speculations that Keira Knightley's character will play a crucial role in the Cassian Andor series.
It was previously reported that Pacific Rim: Uprising actress Adria Arjona will be joining Diego Luna's Cassian Andor series and there were speculations that Arjona would play Sabe because of her resemblance to Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley.
However, it was also noted that the Good Omens star would be too young to play Sabe considering that the prequel show takes place several years after Padme's death. With that in mind, people are now wondering if Knightley herself would be interested in the role.
While speaking to ComingSoon, Keira Knightley revealed that she doesn't even remember if she played Padme or Sabe in The Phantom Menace because she only saw the movie once. When asked if she would be interested in playing the handmaiden again, the Pirates of the Caribbean star didn't mince words.
"Reprising the character I can't even remember the name of?" Knightley asked. "No, there hasn't. There hasn't. There should be, though. I'm sure her life has been long and interesting. But no, no, there's been no discussion."
Although it's unlikely that Keira Knightley will be back to play Sabe, fans are still hoping that the character will show up in the Cassian Andor series.
The Cassian Andor series is expected to begin production in November. However, the Disney+ show has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
