The alleged specifications of the upcoming AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X "Vermeer" Desktop CPU recently surfaced online revealing that AMD is going all out with its next-generation Zen 3-powered Ryzen series by equipping them with the fastest clock speeds on a higher core count chip.

The leaked specs of AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X "Vermeer" Desktop CPU came from TechTuber PC Welt. The upcoming chip might be the fastest CPU that features a maximum of 12 cores and 24 threads. The leak also claimed that the upcoming desktop processor will have a boost clock speed of up to 5GHz with an IPC improvement of up to 20%.

It is worth mentioning that the 5 GHz boost clock value is for the single core AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X "Vermeer" CPU. Esentially, the all core boost frequency of the upcoming chip is less than 5 GHz. Granting that this latest leak is accurate, it means that the AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X "Vermeer" CPU features an improvement of +300 MHz clock speed than the Ryzen 9 5900X.

It also means an improvement of +400 MHz over Ryzen 3900X desktop processors. The leak also underlines that the upcoming processor has a TDp of up to 150W. It seems that the chipmaker raised the power envelope a little bit in AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X "Vermeer" to compensate for the improvement of the chip in terms of boost clock.

AMD earlier confirmed that the next-gneration desktop CPU series would be unveiled on October 8. These Zen 3-based CPUs are allegedly founded on TSMC's 7nm+EUV process node. This chip architecture is anticipated to provide better performance per watt ratio and efficiency that's better than the previous Zen 2 series.

Aside from this latest leak, earlier leaks claimed that the AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X "Vermeer" CPU is engineered for high-performance desktops. The series is anticipated to feature up to two CCD's or Core/Cache Complex Dies and a single IOD or I/O Die. The upcoming Zen 3 architecture is rumored to introduce at least 17% IPC increase than the Zen 2 CPU series.

The previous generation of CPUs featured double the L3 cache over the Zen/Zen+ series chips and the Zen 3 is expected to take this into a whole new level. Earlier, AMD confirmed that the Zen 3 architecture would provide a brand new CPU architecture. According to the chipmaker, the new architecture aids in offering significant IPC gains, much faster clocks and higher core counts. Moreover, the Zen 3 architecture have a unified cache design that effectively doubles the cache that every Zen 3 core accesses.
