Display analyst says iPhone SE, which is due for release in 2022, features a dual-lens camera and 5G support, while iPhone 13 will have ProMotion.
A new rumor about the "iPhone 13" coming with ProMotion and Apple not releasing the new iPhone SE until 2022 is slowly gaining ground. Rumors also indicate that the new iPhone SE will come with a dual-camera setup and 5G support, as well as a bigger display screen.
Ross Young, a display industry expert, and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) said Apple will not release its new iPhone SE models in the spring of 2021, but is set for release in 2022 instead. The DSCC CEO said that there are indications though that Apple will release a new "iPhone 13" with ProMotion feature next year. Those who patiently wait for the iPhone SE are rewarded with new technologies like 5G support and dual-lens camera setup.
Apple's iPhone SE, which according to rumors is set for release on 2022, also features a bigger display screen at 6.06 inches and will retain its Touch ID sensor, though there are no details as regards its location or bevel size. As for 2021, Young said that Apple may release its new "iPhone 13" model which will feature a 120Hz ProMotion display with a variable refresh rate. The display expert said this is made possible using a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) backplanes.
While waiting for the release of iPhone SE with 5G support in 2022, Apple fans might consider checking out the rumored "iPhone 13" with its ProMotion feature. It also has an integrated touch display technology, which means having a touch sensor patterned over its OLED panes instead of a laminated layer. Young said this makes sense as doing so will further reduce the thickness of the panel and might also lower its cost of production, depending on the yield.

Young also revealed that the rumored "iPhone 13 mini" and the "iPhone 13" which feature ProMotion technology will adopt the camera sensors, as well as the sensor size, of the new "iPhone 12 Pro Max" which is due for launch in an Apple event before mid-October. He did not say if the iPhone SE with 5G support which is available in 2022 will also have the same features. As for the rumored "iPhone 13" models, the display expert said the camera sensor size on their Pro models will be increased.
The founder and CEO of DSCC cited supply chain sources when he revealed these claims about Apple's 2022 release of the iPhone SE with 5G support with dual-lens camera, as well as next year's supposed release of the "iPhone 13" with ProMotion technology. He also cited data from the Tokyo-based Mizuho Securities to validate DSCC predictions.
