Barack Obama expressed his support toward Prince William and Kate Middleton on social media. Following the royal couple's introduction of their latest advocacy, The Earthshot Prize, the former U.S. President took the time to share his thoughts and praises.

On Twitter, Obama retweeted Kensington Royal's post about the new initiative. It features a short video, informing the public about the "most prestigious global environment prize in history."

He said that saving Earth entails a lot of "big thinking" and "innovation." This is why the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's "leadership" can make a real difference.

The royal couple's "new prize" will take on a "decade-long" action to "repair the planet." Hello! magazine reported that the project will allocate over $64 million to various projects in the next ten years.

Although Barack Obama did not share any specifics about the initiative, Prince William discussed the Earthshot Prize in an interview with Sir David Attenborough. He stated that several individuals want to take action for the environment. The prize will help them to do so as it will provide "positivity," "hope," and "a bit of catalyst," which are all the things they will need.

Many netizens immediately replied to Barack Obama's post and agreed to his statements. "For all our children - we have to find a way to save the planet," one said. "This is the biggest issue facing us today, tomorrow and for our lives," another added.

Several others, also, expressed their thoughts about Prince William and Kate Middleton's new prize. "The Earthshot Prize should be as prestigious if not more than the Nobel Prizes because the fate of our planet literally hangs in the balance. Colleges and University STEM departments should be encouraging cross-discipline R&D on this," a netizen stated.

Barack Obama first met the Cambridge couple in 2011. Reports said that he and Michelle Obama went to London for a state visit at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth.

Three years later, the former U.S. President and his First Lady hosted the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's visit to the United States. The two pairs met again in Kensington Palace in 2016.

The former First Couple has not returned to the United Kingdom since their exit from the White House. But, Insider stated that the British Monarch has requested for the Obamas to return to the country for another visit, adding that the Queen has had a "soft spot" for the American public after meeting Obama.
