OnePlus lets everyone take a look at the upcoming OnePlus 8T in an official video to see whether the rumors about the phone are true.
OnePlus shares the official video of the upcoming OnePlus 8T so everyone can have a detailed look at the new phone before its release and see whether the rumors have a basis or not. As to its release date, OnePlus confirmed it will launch the 8T in an online event on October 14 at 10 a.m. ET. Rumors also indicate the OnePlus 8T may go on sale at Amazon on October 20.
Leaks about the upcoming OnePlus 8T spilled on Twitter and other social media platforms several weeks ago. With the official video of the new phone shared by OnePlus itself, it appears most of the rumors are true. The video showed that the biggest change so far when compared to the OnePlus 8 and Nord is its rear camera configuration. Instead of a vertical and slim module, the rear cameras are now arrayed in a rectangular panel, appearing similar to the camera module on the rear of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.
Aside from sharing the official video of the upcoming OnePlus 8T, company CEO Pete Lau in an interview with TechRadar recently, confirmed that the new phone features a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Lau also said its new 2.5D flexible screen allows its panel to reach a peak brightness of 1,100 nits, which makes it really great for outdoor use. It has a 91.9% screen-to-body ratio as compared with the 90.8% ratio of the 8 Pro.
The official video of the upcoming OnePlus 8T only showed how it looked, which does not say a lot about its other specs and features. Rumors, however, indicate that the OnePlus 8T will have the Snapdragon 865 chipset while its RAM is offered in 8GB and 12GB configurations. For the 12GB model, it is rumored to have 256GB of storage though you can always opt for the model with the 128GB storage.
The official video also revealed the camera array of the upcoming OnePlus 8T. It has a quad-camera setup consisting of 48MP, 16MP, 5MP, and 2MP sensors that match its wide, ultra-wide, macro, and portrait lenses. Leaks on Twitter suggest the likelihood of a 32MP selfie shooter to the phone, making the upcoming phone more versatile compared to its predecessors.
Another aspect of the upcoming OnePlus 8T that its official video did not elaborate on its battery capacity. As rumors indicate, the phone comes with a lot of new components that require a bigger battery. Past leaks suggest that the OnePlus 8T may come with a larger 4,500mAh battery with a 65W charger, allowing users to bring the phone to full charge in only 39 minutes or reach a 58% charge in approximately 15 minutes. It is not clear, however, if it includes wireless charging capability.
