Rumors are widely circulating that Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, is ditching the company to form a new outfit.
A few days away from the launch of its OnePlus 8T and less than two weeks from the rumored launch of OnePlus Nord N10 5G and OnePlus Nord N100, co-founder Carl Pei decides to leave the company. Rumors indicate that Pei is ditching OnePlus to form "a new venture" and is currently in talks with a couple of "investors to raise capital."
The OnePlus smartphone company is the brainchild of two men, Pete Lau and co-founder Carl Pei. Lau heads the brand as its CEO and reports say he just received a new position at the company's parent organization, OPLUS. Recently, however, rumors are rife that Pei is ditching OnePlus to start his own new venture.

Android Police revealed that some internal documents from OnePlus found their way to Reddit. The documents indicate the OnePlus co-founder is no longer a member of the leadership team at OnePlus and is leaving the company to form his own outfit. News outlets got in touch with OnePlus and tried to ask for a statement regarding Pei ditching OnePlus but the smartphone company declined to comment. Reports say that it also gave the same "no comment" response to Android Police when the outfit reached out to the company. Recently, two different sources talking with TechCrunch confirmed that OnePlus co-founder Pei is leaving or has already left the company. Up to this point, however, OnePlus still refused to comment on such information. Without any confirmation from OnePlus, there is no way to tell whether the rumors and what the sources revealed are true or not.

The leaked documents, however, show a much clearer picture of how things are with OnePlus co-founder Pei and the company he co-founded. The documents, which apparently found their way to Reddit, show that the position that Pei held is now occupied by someone else. Documents show that the leader of the Nord line and its team is now Emily Dai. This seems to indicate that the rumors about Pei leaving OnePlus might be true.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei appeared prominently in many OnePlus documentary videos that the company published concerning the development of its OnePLus Nord. If Pei is not the leader anymore of the Nord team, then it does strongly suggest that he is leaving or has left OnePlus and is no longer part of the company. It might also lend credence to rumors that he ditched the company to form a new venture with other partners.
