The premiere of The Mandalorian Season 2 is only a day away and it looks like Friday is going to be a truly exciting one for sci-fi fans. Robert Rodriguez, who is one of the confirmed directors who had worked on a few episodes of the second season, may have teased on an epic crossover between Baby Yoda and his own film Alita: Battle Angel.

There is little doubt that Alita: Battle Angel is one of Robert Rodriguez's most notable movies. The film, which adapted the beloved manga, was an underrated 2019 hit that earned a fanbase so loyal that they have been demanding a sequel for over a year. So is it possible that the Alita Army has managed to convince Rodriguez to sneak in a cool reference to Battle Angel in The Mandalorian Season 2?

Robert Rodriguez recently shared an interesting poster on his official Twitter account. The poster, which was created by digital artist @PaulUntitled, depict a younger Alita standing with Baby Yoda on what appears to be Tatooine. In addition to that, the Sin City director simply captioned his post with "Alita + Baby Yoda - October 30th" before adding the hashtag #AlitaArmy.

So what does this all mean? Could a young Alita actually show up in the first episode of The Mandalorian Season 2? Although this seems like an intriguing idea, there's a completely different reason why Robert Rodriguez is celebrating both Alita and Baby Yoda in just one post.

It has been confirmed that Alita: Battle Angel will get another theatrical run starting October 30. The film is expected to be screened in limited cinemas around the US as part of a major Alita Army project. The Mandalorian Season 2 will also premiere on Disney+ on the same day so it's an awesome reason for Robert Rodriguez to celebrate.

Robert Rodriguez's involvement in The Mandalorian Season 2 was first reported late last year but it wasn't until this year that the filmmaker confirmed he would be a part of the Star Wars series. It is still unclear how many episodes Rodriguez directed in the second season. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The Mandalorian Season 2 will kick off with the premiere episode that is simply titled "Chapter 9". However, the full title could be revealed once the episode airs on Disney+. The Star Wars series returns on the streaming service on October 30.
