Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield agreed to a contract extension last year but was reportedly unhappy with the numbers he got from that. The 2020 NBA Three-Point Contest champion settled for a $94 million deal but was allegedly unhappy with what former general manager Vlade Divac placed.

Aside from that, most know that Hield know comes off the bench and lost his starting job to Bogdan Bogdanovic. That move somehow paid off but the 27-year-old is not happy about it. He has on multiple occasions gone off and posted cryptic messages with deeper meaning, NBC Sports reported.

“Y’all know how I talk, y’all know how I feel with all the stuff. Y’all can read me well, so I’ll let y’all answer that for yourselves,” Hield said.

Now, a lot has changed over in Sacramento. There is a new general manager on Monte McNair and the new top brass wants a change in the style of play. He prefers an uptempo kind of a game, something that makes Hield a perfect fit with his three-point prowess.

This could explain why Hield has not been placed on the block. Several executives believe that if the Kings wanted to deal him away, they would have done so by now. As of this writing, nothing close to that has happened, Forbes reported.

“It is not something where they seem to be shopping him very actively. Maybe it would be better to wait, to see how the season starts, but I don’t get the sense that they’re out there really laying the groundwork for a deal. They’re just not yet shopping him,” the report said.

Hence, the best way to cool the air is for Hield and the Kings management to sit down and thresh issues if there is any. McNair is a new element in the mix and has new plans for the embattled franchise.

Kings coach Luke Walton tried to reach out to Hield but failed, The Athletic reported. Aware that Walton was linked to Divac previously, the decision to avoid conversations at this point may be tied to it. If that is the case, McNair may have to reach out and talk to Hield himself to straighten things out.

The Kings are in a delicate situation and need to figure out how to bounce back this 2020-21 NBA season and improve on past performances. They have a promising young core and a change in playing style could work wonders for them this coming NBA season.
