The Dallas Mavericks are aware that their spot in the 2020 NBA Draft is not that good. They own the 18th and 31st pick for the coming draft and are hoping to get a quality player to help out Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis.

Given that most of the good players may be gone by the time it is their turn, Dallas is looking to up the stakes a bit. The Mavs are open to trading one of their picks to move up with hopes of possibly getting a good player from the 2020 NBA Draft class, Sports Illustrated reported.

So far, the Mavs have already held talks with several candidates. The list includes Saddiq Bey, Tyrese Haliburton and Desmond Bane according to Mavs Moneyball. But at their current slot, there is a big chance that these players may no longer be around.

Several teams are open to trading down the draft. The Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics are some of the teams open to deals. However, the team that the Mavs could have better chances of completing a deal would have to be the Celtics.

Boston owns three picks (14, 26 and 30) and are looking to trade them all for one pick. The Celtics have more than enough personnel on their end, meaning any new addition could go to waste. Rather than risk that on multiple players, taking in on players at a good spot could make sense for Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens.

Another potential scenario for the Mavs is to include a player they hardly have use for. Except for Doncic and Porzingis, team owner Mark Cuban may consider including one of the other players on their roster in a deal. That could perk up interest if Dallas is bent on moving up.

Among the players the Mavs could deal out include Antonius Cleveland, Josh Reaves, Tim Hardaway Jr. or Willie Cauley-Stein. These are players unlikely to return for the Mavs. The list is hardly tempting but there could be some teams who would be interested.

If there is no good deal in place, the Mavs could go on and settle for whoever they can get at the 2020 NBA Draft. Seeing how this class is not that strong, it remains to be seen if they can get any mileage from whoever they end up selecting on Nov. 18.
