Like most NBA teams, all eyes are on LaMelo Ball. The 19-year-old son of LaVar Ball is tipped to be the top pick for the 2020 NBA Draft with the Minnesota Timberwolves most likely to take him in.

However, most have heard that the T-Wolves and the Golden State Warriors are open to offers for their picks. So far, nothing has materialized although the Pistons could try to initiate something. The only problem is that they don’t have assets that could convince Minnesota into swaying the rights to the first-overall pick their way.

Regardless, what this hint is that the Pistons are determined to get better. Their fortunes have been wading the past years and general manager Troy Weaver plans to change all that. The 2020 NBA Draft s only one part of their plans, meaning there could be big moves ahead for the Motor City squad, ESPN reported.

"I'm always happy to hear players embrace our organization, our city. That never goes unnoticed. I know people around him. His trainer is a Detroit native, so I'm sure he's been here for a while working out," Weaver said during an interview.

As for Ball, the only way Detroit can swing a deal is if they convince Minnesota to a trade. Other than that, they could also pin their hopes on Jermaine Jackson Jr. He is the mentor and manager of Ball. Jackson is a former Piston and native of Motown.

"I'm sure he's well versed in the city from traveling around, being with his trainer and hearing different things, so no, that doesn't go unnoticed and that's always a positive when prospects speak highly of the city and the organization,” Weaver said about Ball.

If not Ball, the Pistons could divert their attention to Anthony Edwards. He was initially seen as the top pick for the coming draft alongside Ball. With the Warriors believed to be selecting James Wiseman, Detroit could flip the script by discussing a deal with the Dubs.

Picking third is the Charlotte Hornets. Assuming that Golden State takes in Wiseman, Edwards could be their choice at the no. 3 spot if they find a way to complete a deal with Charlotte.

There are risks involved with a trade with Charlotte looming as their best option. If nothing happens, they can just stick with their current position and take in the best available talent on Nov. 18.
