Apple unveiled its new MacBook Pro powered by Apple Silicon M1, which the company claims is almost three times faster compared to other Macs and promises an improved battery life.

Apple unveiled the new Apple Silicon M1-powered 13-inch MacBook Pro during its "One More Thing" event. According to the Cupertino-based tech giant, the new Mac takes a huge leap in terms of performance and battery life, and at the same time, sending a direct challenge to Windows-based laptops.

The design of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon M1 is similar to its predecessor, though it offers nearly three times faster performance with around 20 hours of battery life. Industry analysts say this is the direct impact of the new Apple M1 chip.

The Cupertino company revealed that as of November 10, its 13-inch Apple Silicon M1 MacBook Pro is available for order and is set for delivery beginning November 17. Apple also said that it has a price tag of $1,299, which is roughly around the same price as the preceding model.

The $1,299 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with an 8GB of memory with 256GB of storage space, while its $1,499 variant features a 512GB storage space. Both Macs use the new Apple Silicon M1 chip, with a speed that may put other laptops within its range to shame.

Apple said that based on their pre-launch tests, the new 13-inch Apple Silicon M1-powered MacBook Pro is around three times faster compared to some of the best-selling Windows laptops in its category. The Cupertino tech giant also revealed that the backbone of its M1 chip is an 8-core CPU consisting of four high-powered cores and four high-efficiency cores.

The company also claims that the GPU of its 13-inch Apple Silicon M1-powered MacBook Pro is up to five times faster as compared to the previous MacBook Pro model. The predecessor of the new Mac featured an integrated Intel graphics processor.

Additionally, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon M1 chip also offers up to 11 times faster in terms of machine learning performance. Apple said this feature helps with multiple jobs, from photo and video editing tasks to complex coding tasks.

Aside from the speed that the 13-inch, Apple Silicon M1-powered MacBook Pro offers, the Cupertino company said its battery can sustain up to 17 hours of Internet surfing, as well as 20 hours of video playback. The downside, however, is that while it did upgrade the processor within the laptop, it still features the same design weighing approximately three pounds. Furthermore, it only comes in two colors, namely, Space Gray and Silver. It also features a similar 13-inch Retina Display with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution at 500 nits of brightness.
