Prince Andrew has yet to speak to U.S. authorities regarding what he knows about the sex trafficking activities of his friend, Jeffrey Epstein. However, the victims of the American pedophile are holding out hope things will change once President-elect Joe Biden is sworn into office in January 2021.
The victim's lawyer, Lisa Bloom, said that Prince Andrew should be "pursued aggressively" under the Biden administration. Bloom and the victims think that the friendship between Epstein and President Donald Trump somehow affected the handling of their case.
In 2019, Trump acknowledged that he knew Epstein for 15 years and described him as a "terrific guy" who was "fun to be with." But following his arrest, Trump backtracked and said he was not a fan of the pedophile.
That same year, Epstein took his own life while waiting in prison for the start of his sex trafficking trial. Authorities in the U.S. have since set their sights on finding his alleged pimp, Ghislaine Maxwell, and investigating his friends, such as Prince Andrew.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been wanting to speak with the Duke of York after one of Epstein's victims named him. Virginia Giuffre claimed she had intimate relations when she was barely 18 years old with Prince Andrew under the prodding of Epstein and Maxwell.
Prince Andrew has denied the allegations and said on national television in Britain that he has never met Giuffre. But Bloom insisted that Prince Andrew should cooperate with the FBI, after he also said that he was willing to cooperate with U.S. authorities to shed light on the cases against his friend.
U.S. Attorneys receive their appointment from the President of the United States. Prosecution lawyer Spencer Kuvin also said that they are hoping Biden will pick a new Attorney General who understands the history of Epstein's cases.
The FBI, on the other hand, arrested Maxwell in America in June. She denied the sex trafficking charges. Her trial is set to begin in July 2021 but she will remain in prison without bail.
Meanwhile, Prince Andrew missed out on the royal family's Remembrance Sunday service for war heroes on Nov. 8. The Duke of York's absence, despite being a war veteran himself, was intended following the backlash over his interview with BBC.
Prince Andrew has been avoiding public events since stepping back from his royal duties in November 2019. However, there are feelers indicating that he might return to public service. He allegedly spoke to his mother, the Queen, about resuming his royal duties but Buckingham Palace has not commented on this speculation.
