BTS has a lot of successful songs, but “Spring Day” will always be considered as their mega-hit track. The song, written by "Hitman" Bang, RM, Suga, Adora, Arlissa Ruppert, Peter Ibsen, and its producer Pdogg, was released in 2017, but it is still climbing up the charts up to this day.

RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were guest stars on the latest episode of Immortal Songs 2: Singing the Legend, where they discussed the tracks they have created with Pdogg. When talking about BTS’s musical masterpieces, it is hard not to mention “Spring Day,” and the boys shared their thoughts on why their song from three years ago is still very popular today.

ARMYs have a lot of theories regarding the inspiration behind “Spring Day.” But according to RM and Suga, it is based on their own experiences. And because of that, the “Daechwita” rapper believed that their personal touch to the song is the reason why it became a total hit.

Suga shared that “[Spring Day] is based on [his] experience of losing a friend.” He then noted that going through loss is something that everyone has in common.

RM added that he was thinking about the friends that he left behind when he had to move out of his hometown while writing the lyrics to “Spring Day.” The BTS leader explained that his relationship with his close pals drifted away when he went to Seoul to follow his dreams. Their friendship didn’t survive the distance, so he just thought of them “as stars in the sky, floating around me…”

Meanwhile, just because BTS jumps from one place to another and meets new people every single day, it doesn’t mean that they don’t want to hang out with their old friends anymore. RM previously opened up about his old pals not communicating with him anymore.

In a previous 2017 live broadcast, RM shared that he finally realized why his pre-BTS friends didn’t keep in touch with him. He said that they explained that they didn’t want him to think that they are only reaching out to him because he’s famous. After hearing their side, the “Persona” rapper understood them realized that he should be the one to make a move.

RM said that he was grateful that his friends were not trying to use his fame for their selfish reasons, but admitted that he felt "horrible" about it at the same time. He shared that it made him realize that he should always reach out to them first.
