It was a night to remember for Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, after the royal pair visited a basement nightclub on Oxford Street to show support for the city's nighttime economy amid the crisis brought on by the pandemic.

But while the royal pair enjoyed their night out, the mood was very different on social media after Clarence House had to shut down the comments section of their Twitter account for a second time.

A spokesperson from Prince Charles' office confirmed that commenting has been restricted on Twitter to just users @ClarenceHouse follows or mentions in their posts. The spokesperson said that this was necessary since "a number of posts contravened the royal household's social media guidelines."

The trolling of Clarence House's social media accounts began after the release of The Crown season 4 on Netflix. One of the show's main storylines covers the turbulent marriage of Prince Charles to Princess Diana, as well as his affair with Camilla. Unfortunately for the royal pair, a new generation of viewers is learning the details for the first time in the dramatized series.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the Prince of Wales is not threatened by the backlash brought on by The Crown. Nicholl said that the Queen's heir is likely more frustrated that his past marriage is back in the headlines when "he's trying to move forward."

Sources close to Prince Charles said that he's ignoring the noise surrounding The Crown. So on the night he went clubbing, the royal focused on simply having a good time with his wife.

According to ITV, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were likely not the types of people to go clubbing in this busy district. They confessed to the staff that it was their first time at 100 Club but Prince Charles and Camilla sat down with their face masks on and enjoyed themselves as they listened to the live music.

Prince Charles and Camilla also had a chat with the owner of the bar, the sound engineers, and the performers to know how they coped during the lockdowns. Singer Emily Capell told the Prince of Wales that they settled with performing on YouTube since they couldn't have a live audience. The royal promised Capell that he would look up her videos on the platform.

Camilla also had an interesting exchange about music with Capell. The Duchess of Cornwall revealed that she loves Rod Stewart and saw him perform live when he was still part of The Faces band.

Incidentally, The Faces used to perform at the 100 Club, which has been around since 1942. Many other artists have had secret shows in this basement venue as well, such as The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, BB King, Oasis, and The Who.
