One Piece Chapter 998 drops a new update that teases the return of Luffy's brother, Portgas D. Ace. After he appears at the end of the installment, it looks like fans are about to see more of him in One Piece Chapter 999.
The manga will not be on a break next week. So, fans will see One Piece Chapter 999 a week after One Piece Chapter 998 is out. After that, it will be on a hiatus, meaning the much-awaited One Piece Chapter 1000 will not be out until January 2021.
So, what are fans going to see here? After Chapter 998 spoilers tease Ace's reappearance, there are rumors that Chapter 999 may be all about him.
International Business Times claimed the guy that Yamato said that broke the statue of the beaten dragon could be Luffy's brother. She also mentioned a man who came to kill her father a few years ago who could also be him.
Anyhow, the mysterious guy Yamato is talking about giving birth to a lot of theories. As some say it could be Shanks, others firmly believe it is Ace.
To recall, before the Straw Hat Pirates arrived on the Land of Wano, Ace visited this country a few years ago. During that visit, he met Tama and even developed a close relationship with Yamato.
So, there is a strong possibility that One Piece Chapter 999 may show more of Ace and give a glimpse of his backstory. It is also possible that Ace's appearance will end with his silhouette in One Piece Chapter 998.
Meanwhile, talking about One Piece Chapter 1000, Comicbook noted it would get a "full-color treatment." A post by Manga Mogura, cc'ing WSJ Manga, revealed the much-talked-about installment would have lead color and would be on Weekly Shounen Jump issue 5/6 (2021) that would be out on Monday, January 4, 2021
BlockToro even said the same thing -- both Chapter 999 and Chapter 1000 would have colored spread. There are also reports claiming that the latter will even have colored pages to celebrate the milestone.
Anyhow, Shueisha has yet to confirm anything. So, these claims will remain a rumor. It also remains to be seen what Chapter 1000 will entail, but its creator, Eiichiro Oda, is expected to have big plans for this monumental achievement.
Oda has been known for celebrating the manga's milestones with a big reveal, so fans are now looking forward to seeing what is coming.
One Piece Chapter 998 will be out on Sunday, December 13, while One Piece Chapter 999 will drop on December 20.
