Apple iPhone users are starting to flood support forums with complaints about missing message notifications on their iOS 14 devices.

Apple released its iOS 14 update only in September and until now, users are posting a variety of complaints about it, the latest being the missing message alerts. When the company released the update three months ago, users immediately complained that while the update allowed them to use their preferred browser and mail client, it reverted to its default browser and mail app when they restart or reboot their iPhones. Apple immediately resolved the issue with another update. Recently, Apple users complained about older iPhones rapidly losing battery power. Some users attributed the issue to another iOS update.

Aside from missing message alerts, which some Apple fans attribute to the iOS 14 update, some users say that the bug appears also to impact voice call alerts. A rundown of the posted complaints showed that many users complain about missing message notifications for iMessages, texts, and in some cases, WhatsApp messages. Users say that the notification bug affects almost all of the iPhone models that are running iOS 14 or later iterations.

Many users also posted their complaints about missing message notifications for text messages and iMessages on Apple Community forums. They say the issue only appeared after they updated their iPhones to iOS 14. In a strange twist, the issue does not appear to affect the delivery of new messages, only its notifications. This means you can still receive the message but there is no notification of any kind about a new message. Users complained that both the red badge that keeps track of unread messages and pop-up notifications are not working.

According to an online news report, aside from missing message notifications for iMessages and text messages, the glitch also appears to affect third-party apps like Signal and WhatsApp. Some users posted complaints that they are also not getting any message alerts for those apps after updating their iPhones to iOS 14, and in several cases, even their voice call alerts went missing. "I am now missing calls and notifications from other apps as well," one of the users posted on the Apple Community forum.

As of this time, the thread on the missing message notifications for text messages and iMessages when users updated their iPhones to iOS 14 is now at 43 pages. Some users posted possible workarounds like turning off Messages on a linked Mac or performing a force shutdown of the Messages app. The problem is that many of these workarounds work only for a couple of iPhone users while the rest of them kept on experiencing the problem. Aside from posting complaints on Apple Community support forums, other users took to Twitter in a bid to catch the attention of Apple and inform them about the missing message alert issue. Rumors say that Apple's iOS 14.3 update, which the company might release in the coming days, could fix these issues.
