Kate Middleton always wanted to be a "country mom" when she was old enough to marry and raise a family even if she wasn't married to the future King of the United Kingdom.

In an interview with People, a royal household staff disclosed that the Duchess of Cambridge prefers life in the country to the bustling city life in London. Kate would have aspired for the same thing even if she married a banker, whose work would be in the city's business district.

Kate apparently loves their country residence in Anmer Hall, Norfolk, the 10-bedroom house where the Cambridges chose to stay during the coronavirus lockdown. She is apparently the type of mother who's "very chilled" with her children running around or making a mess, as kids often do. Sources said that there is hardly anything stuffy or fancy about Kate and her home.

The source also said that much of this aspiration was influenced by Kate's own childhood in Bucklebury. She didn't grow up having a lot of formal parties but preferred to hunt and host an informal get-together with a tight-knit group of friends or family.

However, Kate understands that she needs to learn the refinement of royal life as she is training to be the future Queen. In public appearances, she looks fresh, graceful, well-dressed, and so refined, but she's generally a "normal mom" who likes wearing gym clothes and sneakers if she's not going to be in public.

Kate apparently likes to wear just a smidge of makeup on school runs and keep her hair up in a ponytail. She makes apologies when she's late for the school runs as well, following a hectic morning to get the kids ready for school.

As someone who manages a household with three growing children while balancing her public royal work, Kate experiences challenges like any working mother. However, the royal gets help from her mother and from their long-time nanny Maria Turrion Borrallo in looking after the children.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge learned of three baby news this year with the pregnancy of her cousins-in-law, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall, and her very own sister, Pippa Middleton. Kate is reportedly experiencing a feeling of an "empty nest" as her kids -- George, Charlotte, and Louis -- are becoming bigger.

In 2021, Prince Louis will finally attend nursery school, marking the very first year that there's no more baby in the Cambridge home. Speculations are rife that Kate is eager to add a fourth child and follow Queen Elizabeth, who is also a mother of four.
