Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is not hiding the disappointment he felt when Jurgen Klopp decided to make Trent Alexander-Arnold captains when the Reds clashed recently with FC Midtjylland in the Champions League. The UCL match ended in a draw and The Egyptian King admitted he was hurt by Klopp's move.

Salah said he expected to wear the armband when his squad battled Midtjylland on December 9 but the Reds boss thought otherwise and awarded the captainship to another player. Despite the overlook, the 28-year-old forward scored a goal during the match and performed as expected.

The Egyptian, however, made clear that he was not happy with the decision made by Klopp.

"Honestly, I was very disappointed ... I was expecting to be the captain. But it's the manager's decision. I accept it." ESPN reported the 28-year-old as saying.

But in revealing his true feelings about the episode, Salah only fired up speculations that he could be leaving Anfield soon despite an existing contract with the Premier League giants that runs until 2023.

There are talks of the star making the jump to La Liga as both Barcelona and Real Madrid are supposedly running after him. Salah said his focus is to win more trophies while still with Liverpool but moving out of Anfield is something that the club can only address.

The striker explained that he intends to continue breaking records with the Reds but how long he would stay will be "in the club's hands."

In essence, Salah did not rule out the likelihood of a transfer scenario even before the expiration of his deal with the reigning Premier League champions. That likely because the Egyptian is no longer happy with Liverpool.

That's according to Salah's Egypt teammate Mohamed Aboutrika, who claimed that his friend's current situation at Anfield has made Salah unhappy. Aboutrika confirmed that the captainship issue contributed to the star's misgivings and stressed the Egyptian has other grievances.

"I know that Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons why he is not happy but they are secrets and I cannot talk about it in public," Aboutrika revealed, and per the report by Goal.

Also, Salah's pal is convinced that the star's exit from the English club is only a matter of time. Aboutrika said the Liverpool forward will leave the club and it will be good both for the Reds and Salah.

For Liverpool, the transfer would result in a big transfer payment and for Salah, joining any of Barca or Real would allow him to win more titles and honors. Aboutrika said he dreams of his fellow Egyptian winning the Ballon d'Or wearing a Barcelona or Real Madrid shirt.
