Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez caught the attention of many netizens over the weekend. She trended on social media after photos of Dua Lipa emerged on Twitter.

Harper's Bazaar explained that several individuals initially thought that the congresswoman was featured on the fashionable images. But, to their surprise, it was, actually, the "One Kiss" singer.

Many Twitter users posted comparisons between the two females. One of the posts went viral on the platform, showing paparazzi images of the artist. She was wearing a "baggy navy suit," alongside the black lace-up crop top.

The netizen quipped that AOC was "on her way to pass the Green New Deal." It immediately blew up, and has since obtained more than 282,000 likes and 17,000 retweets. As for the comments, the number has already reached more than 1,600.

Many netizens agreed with the post on the platform. They shared some of their thoughts in the comment section and echoed the statement of the original post.

"For a moment I thought it was really her," one individual said. "I even zoomed in on the first [photo]," another Twitter user shared, adding that many of them could not tell the difference between Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Dua Lipa until the second photo.

It would be a "power move" if AOC "started dressing like this for Congress," a different netizen stated. The same user even concluded that the wives of the "80 percent of GOP members" would not allow their husbands in the same building as the congresswoman.

"Imagine AOC actually walked in like that," another fan noted, seemingly implying that the congresswoman would steal the scene if she wears the same type of clothing. It will be "ground-breaking," the same netizen added.

Amid all the talks, though, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Dua Lipa seemingly remain tight-lipped about the matter. Nevertheless, publications said that they would not rule out the possibility of making it official that the two high-profile personalities are, indeed, like doppelgangers of each other.

Following the emergence of the photos, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continued to focus on her work and efforts to help the public. On Sunday, she posted a series of snaps and videos to inform and educate her followers about the COVID-19 vaccines.

AOC recorded the steps she took and the protocols she followed when she obtained one of the two vaccine shots. After posting the materials on her social media accounts, the congresswoman opened her platform for questions to further understand the whole process.
