A video mocking the Indonesian national anthem has sparked outrage there. The video - allegedly uploaded by a Malaysian user - emphasized the delicate relations between the two countries.

Social media was flooded with angry comments from Indonesians - including criticism over the disrespectful way Malaysians poke fun at the country. The video called "Indonesia Raya Instrumental (Parody + Lyrics)" was published in the Malay dialect of the language spoken by both countries.

The video was uploaded by a user named "My Asean." It included the Malaysia flag as a profile picture. In the video, the original lyrics of Indonesia's national anthem were changed to mock the country's government and people.

The phrase "Indonesia my motherland" was changed to "Indonesia my misfortune." Another verse was also changed to one that wished ill upon the country's president, Joko Widodo.

Apart from the lyrics the uploader also altered the country's emblem from the Garuda - a giant mythical bird - to a frightened chicken. Other visual presentations included a child urinating on the Indonesia flag.

Indonesia's foreign ministry said it had reported the video to Malaysia police. Authorities from both countries are investigating and seeking those responsible for making the video.

"The Malaysian government has taken action, as per Indonesia's request, including [requesting YouTube] take down the video," Malaysia's foreign ministry said Monday.

Indonesia's embassy in Kuala Lumpur said in a statement people shouldn't start fights and respect the investigation. Malaysia's embassy in Jakarta said "strict action" would be taken if a Malaysian created the video.

"The government of Malaysia strongly condemns any negative provocations that are intended to affect the close bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia," the embassy said.

Before it was taken down and deleted, the video was viewed at least 44,000 times. Some YouTube users downloaded the video with some reposting it.
