Errol Spence Jr. made a successful ring return against Danny Garcia last Dec. 5 and most are playing the guessing game on who the WBC and IBF welterweight will fight next. There are several names in the mix such as Shawn Porter, Manny Pacquiao and Yordenis Ugas.

Terence Crawford is another name although Spence may consider that after one more fight. Of the names mentioned, a rematch with Porter makes sense. If not, testing the mettle of Ugas interests the 30-year-old New York native.

“A Porter rematch may be good. The first fight was an exciting fight. The second one would probably be like the first one,” Spence said on the PBC podcast.

Keith Thurman was mentioned as well, someone who has been calling out Spence as of late. Spence hardly touched on the matter, playing safe and saying has no idea of a fight with Thurman would gain ground. However, he did mention Ugas as someone he was interested in, calling him a real fighter.

“I don’t know,” said Spence. “I like Ugas, he’s a real fighter. He’s a guy that would fight anybody, and he’s on a winning streak now. I like him as a fighter, and that could be a good fight.”

But like most boxers, Spence would be asked how he felt about facing Pacquiao. The 30-year-old did call out the Filipino boxing icon in 2019 but nothing materialized. Ironically, the 42-year-old boxer watched the Spence vs. Garcia fight and sent his congratulations via Twitter.

“Welcome back, Errol Spence Jr. Congratulations on your victory,” Pacquiao wrote.

But as far as a fight with the boxer-senator, Spence says a potential fight can only happen if Pacquiao and his camp wants it. The Pac-Man plans to fight a couple of more fights in 2021 in what could be his last bouts. Pacquiao is believed to be running for the Presidency of the Philippines in 2022.

“It’s really up to Pacquiao,” Spence said on a potential future match.

And of course, the fight most want to see is the one against Crawford. But nothing close to one is happening but Spence is not fretting. He is coming off a successful ring return and prefers to take it easy for now before thinking of when and who to fight next.

“I’m not going to stress out,” said Spence. “I’m going to enjoy my time off, and keep working. When it comes time to get back in there again, I’ll be ahead of schedule.”
