Jellyfish Entertainment will disband Gugudan on December 31, 2020, after four years of promoting as a group.

According to a report by Koreaboo, the label made the formal announcement and thanked the fans for their support. The label explained that the decision was reached after extensive discussions between the management and the artists. They assured that despite the halt to group activities, they will still support the members' individual endeavors in music and acting.

It can be recalled that Gugudan member Sally revealed in an interview that in early 2019, members were already asked to leave the group's dorm with no assurance on when they will be called back by the agency. At present, Sejeong is the only member who is working on solo projects, appearing in Netflix's Busted and OCN's fantasy series Uncanny Counter.

After Gugudan's sudden announcement, netizens are asking if GOT7 will be the next Kpop group to disband. Rumors are swirling that GOT7 members are going their separate ways after their contract expires with JYP next year.

According to a report by All Kpop, the rumors of disbandment started from reports that Jinyoung was in talks to sign an exclusive contract with BH Entertainment.

BH Entertainment did not deny meeting with the GOT7 member and JYP said they were still discussing contract renewal with all the members so nothing is set in stone yet, Soompi reported.

Aghases are not losing hope that GOT7 will continue after members said that they wanted to continue promoting as a group for a long time.

Another group that is in peril of disbandment is LABOUM. The group was launched in 2014 and struggled to maintain a solid fanbase in the six years that it was promoting as a group. It did not help that Yulhee left the group in 2017 to focus on her family.

Red Velvet's contract with SM Entertainment is also set to expire in August 2021. They faced one of their biggest challenges this year when Irene was exposed for her rude behavior by a photoshoot editor. Calls for her removal from the group trended online, but the label maintained that the group was preparing for a comeback early next year. Reveluvs may have to sit tight until August to find out if the girls will continue activities as a five-member group.

MAMAMOO's contacts will expire on June 2021, and fans are worried that the four members will go their separate ways after launching successful solo careers.

Lovelyz is one of the groups that enjoys popularity in Korea and overseas, but there are strong hints of disbandment when the group's contract expires in November 2021. According to some fans, some members may feel dissatisfied over Woolim Entertainment's alleged favoritism and leave the agency.

One disbandment that may not come as a surprise is that of IZ*ONE since the members were formed to promote only for two years. Members are expected to return to their labels after April 2021.
