Victor Ortiz is perhaps one of the few fighters that got a chance to face Floyd Mayweather in the ring. This happened in 2011 with the 33-year-old being a victim of knockout from the undefeated boxer.

As far as Ortiz is concerned, it was something that happened because he let his guard down. But as far as punching power, the former WBC welterweight champion is far from impressed.

“[I said], ‘C’mon champ, show me how hard you hit.’ I took them flush in the mouth. Which one dropped me and which one ‘knocked me out?’ When I was looking outside the ring, waiting for a time-in, he went back to the corner, ran up, unloaded a right. My three-year-old could drop me, too, if I wasn’t looking,” Ortiz said to MMAfighting.com.

Regardless, Ortiz never got the chance to avenge that loss. And the closest he may get to revenge is likely through Logan Paul.

Paul will get a rare chance to face Mayweather in a boxing match on Feb. 20, 2021. He is the overwhelming underdog in that clash and Ortiz is around to lend him a hand.

Having seen what the 25-year-old can do, Ortiz is impressed. He feels that Paul has a chance at Mayweather if the retired American pug is not careful.

“What I’m saying, in a sense, is that he will give Floyd trouble. I’m telling you, it’s going to be an interesting fight. I’ve talked to him about Floyd a few times... I give him the simple things: ‘Floyd is Floyd, but you’re unstoppable. You’re on another level.’ I strongly believe Floyd will have trouble. Logan can box, and he has power, reach speed, and he can move now,” Ortiz said.

Ortiz was around to see Paul dispose of several sparring partners, all certified pugs. Paul knocked out his last three sparring partners in the final round and saw the power behind the YouTuber’s punches.

With Ortiz around, the odds against Paul may waver a little. But the fact remains that the YouTuber needs to do more and come out with a big win. Seeing how Mayweather is keen on keeping his perfect slate, a Logan Paul victory is something most do not see.

Paul has nothing to lose against Mayweather. He could get beaten but will benefit from the experience.

As for the 43-year-old future boxing Hall of Famer, this is just one of several exhibition fights he plans to do according to Fanmio. It is all about fights that pay lucratively, something that has appealed to the “Flamboyant One.”
