Wrestlemania 37 may have just taken shape and the main events for the annual spectacle have been altered. Originally, most thought that it would be a Bill Goldberg facing Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal title, a clash that was originally set for Wrestlemania 36.

But following the Jan. 4 edition of WWE Raw, a new twist has been made. Goldberg will be competing for a WWE title but it will be against WWE Raw heavyweight champion Drew McIntyre. The 54-year-old emerged after the McIntyre vs. Keith Lee match and things got a bit antsy in the end.

Goldberg said that McIntyre did not give WWE Legends the respect they deserve and then challenged the Scottish Psychopath to fight for the WWE title at the 2021 Royal Rumble. The 35-year-old ended up saying that it would be like him fighting his dad, something that enraged the WWE Hall of Famer. Goldberg ended up pushing McIntyre to the mat after which he got back up and got in the face of the former WWE champion.

The whole thing changes the previous speculations for Wrestlemania 37. However, Goldberg’s actions do point to one clear thing, Reigns will be facing someone else at the WWE spectacle. Daniel Bryan had hinted as well of targeting the Tribal Chief and that could all be sealed if the “Yes Man” wins this year’s 30-man battle royale.

Goldberg could still be in play although the chances of that happening are now deemed a long shot. At his age, he could battle McIntyre for his WWE title but unlikely have enough to compete in the Royal Rumble.

Unless the WWE creative team has something up its sleeves, Bryan appears to be the favorite to win it all and then challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania 37.

Then again, there are still other active characters that are in play. That includes Kevin Owens who has stubbornly been trying to get Reigns’ goat. Then there is Jey Uso, Reigns’ cousin, who most feel will at one point break away from the Tribal Chief and Paul Heyman.

There are also the notable absences of Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman. At any rate, there could be a surprise entry in the battle royal which could further sweeten things up.

The 2021 Royal Rumble happens on Jan. 31 starting at 7:00 p.m. E.T. at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. McIntyre won the event last year, en route to him winning the WWE title at the expense of Reigns.
