There were many corporate shake-ups last year as businesses struggled with the coronavirus. However, a new year might mean better beginnings for those now charged with spearheading their companies.

Qualcomm - Cristiano Amon

Following legal issues and corporate challenges for Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. the company will see a new chief executive in Cristiano Amon in the summer.

As the company's president, Amon is well-versed in the semiconductor chip business. He has 15 years' experience with mergers and acquisitions and has been with Qualcomm in several positions since 1995 - starting as an engineer. He was a popular choice as chief executive.

Amon was incumbent chief executive Steve Mollenkopf's longtime deputy. Mollenkopf is leaving his post after seven years.

With greater power comes greater responsibility and Amon will have to resolve several outstanding issues. One of these problems is the takeover bid spearheaded by Qualcomm competitor Broadcom Inc.

Aside from the Broadcom issue the company must find a way to resolve a U.S. Federal Trade Commission investigation into anticompetitive tactics.

C.C. Filson - Paolo Corinaldesi

This year will see new faces on the administrative floors as outdoor clothing and apparel company C.C. Filson announced a new chief executive last week.

Taking the role is Paolo Corinaldesi. His appointment was effective immediately. Corinaldesi will work alongside founder Tom Kartsotis.

Last year, international retail group WP Lavori In Corso Sri invested in Filson, making Corinaldesi's entry into the company possible.

Before being appointed Corinaldesi was the chief executive of Woolrich International. He was also a strategist for WP Lavori. In this role he worked with shoemaker Blundstone and other brands.

Mobile Technologies Inc. - Mary Jesse

Mobile Technologies Inc. took a bold step last week announcing Mary Jesse was joining its board of directors.

Jesse made history as the first woman to join Mobile Technologies' board. The promotion comes along with her new role as chief executive officer of the retail security company.

Before becoming chief executive Jesse served as chief operations officer in what was a difficult year for many businesses. Jesse helped keep operations running in spite of the pandemic.

Jesse has more than two decades in business leadership and technology. She has worked at several companies as a chairperson and board member.

Equiniti - Paul Lynam

Digital payments and services company Equiniti Group plc said last week Paul Lynam would become chief executive effective April 1.

During the transition Cheryl Millington will serve as interim chief executive following the immediate resignation of Guy Wakeley.

Lynam was chief executive of Secure Trust Bank PLC for more than a decade before he was scouted by Equiniti. Lynam is a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
