Ryan Garcia is understandably still high following his 7th round TKO of Luke Cambell last weekend. It was a magnificent rise from the grave for the 22-year-old who suffered the first knockdown of his career in the fifth round at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.

Garcia won the vacant interim WBC lightweight title for his troubles, giving him a clear shot at regular WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney. But aside from that, the American pug had someone in mind. He wants Gervonta “The Tank” Davis and made a vow to knock out the 26-year-old in two rounds, TMZ reported.

"I don't have time for celebrations. I'm on one mission. I'm on a mission to knock out Gervonta Davis in two rounds...This man will go down. Two rounds--that's a promise," Garcia said.

While that looms as a blockbuster showdown, Garcia needs to understand that the World Boxing Council may have a say on that. Right now, a plausible next opponent for “KingRy” is Haney with Eddie Hearn calling his win over Campbell as the “final eliminator,” Boxingscene reported.

“Great fight,” Hearn, who promotes both Campbell and Haney, said. “You just boxed a final eliminator to fight him… [WBC title] fight will now be ordered.”

But clearly, Garcia badly wants Davis next. He added that if the American passes upon the chance, his legacy will be forever tainted.

"If you do not take this next fight from me, you will not be remembered. Your legacy will forever be tainted if you do not accept this fight," Garcia said. "It's the most important fight to boxing right now," Garcia proclaimed.

While most were awed by the comeback story of Garcia against Campbell, not all were impressed. He may not be as lucky against Davis if he is not careful.

Someone who spoke about it was Stephen McKenna, an Irish pug who sparred with Garcia in the past. He felt that had “KingRy” faced a different opponent, the 22-year-old may have just suffered the first defeat of his budding boxing career.

"Garcia was badly hurt. If I had been in there, I would have got Garcia out of there, if I had him hurt like that," McKenna said in a previous post.

Garcia should slowly tone down in the next couple of weeks and regain his senses. He is understandably at a high right now but would best be careful on what he wishes for as far as his next fight is concerned.
