The surge in popularity of mobile shooter games attracted cheaters and hackers. Although devs made measures to ensure players enjoy a fair game, hacking and cheating continue to be a problem in most titles, particularly in "PUBG Mobile." Recently, devs banned over 1.2 million accounts, with the majority of them caught using auto-aim.

Tencent's "PUBG Mobile" Cheaters Crackdown Continues

In a recent report shared on the official Twitter account of "PUBG Mobile," devs revealed that they permanently suspended 1,217,342 player accounts between Jan. 8 and Jan. 14 for using cheats and hacks. Almost 50% of these banned accounts were discovered using auto-aim hacks or modifying their character models.

Other reasons for permanent "PUBG Mobile" account suspension include the use of X-ray vision (22%), the use of speed hacks (12%), and players modifying the area damage (7%). Aside from the type of cheats used, the report also revealed the rank breakdown of cheaters. It appears 3% of banned players were Conqueror, 6% were Ace, 10% were Crown, 12% were Diamond, 11% were Platinum, 9% were Gold, 11% were Silver, and 38% were Bronze rank.

Aside from the routine cheaters' purging, Tencent also rolled out "PUBG Mobile" update 1.2 recently. The new patch introduced new content in the game including the Runic Power mode. In this mode, players have superpowers that could help them win the game courtesy of the runes. The game's Season 17 is also set to start on Jan. 19 and launches under the title Runic Power.

New "PUBG Mobile" Mode

Aside from the new Runic Power mode in "PUBG Mobile," rumors have it that a new mode is coming soon. The latest rumor is based on a video of the game's Chinese version that was shared on YouTube, In the footage, fans can see a mode that resembles a lot like the social deduction game, "Among Us."

In this mode, players get into a new map and are classified as crewmates and one impostor. Apparently, the lone impostor has a pan that he can use to eliminate crewmates. There is also the iconic center table with a report button, just like in "Among Us" aside from the list of tasks that crewmates should accomplish before getting killed by the impostor.

In this rumored "PUBG Mobile" mode, crewmates are tasked to defuse bombs, connect wires and fix pipes among others. Vents can also be seen in the video, which is most likely a route that the impostor can use to navigate the map. It is worth noting that while there is a video showing this mode, it is not official. Players should take this with a pinch of salt.
