Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are the only members of the British royal family who are most conscious of the line of succession to the throne, according to a royal expert.

Biographer Ingrid Seward wrote in a piece in The Sun that the Duke of Sussex cares about his place in the royal family ranking because of his wife. Meghan apparently doesn't understand why the children of Prince William -- Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis -- are ahead of her husband, who is the second son of the next monarch, Prince Charles.

The issue with the line of succession has cropped up because of the arrival of a new member in the royal family, following the birth of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's son on Feb. 9, 2021. Seward said that the baby, whose name has not been revealed yet, bumps all the royals that come after Eugenie down in the ranking. Her newborn son now takes the 11th spot.

This means that Harry and Eugenie's uncle, Prince Edward, the Queen's youngest son, has been bumped to the 12th in line, while his children -- James, Viscount Severn, and Lady Louise -- are now 13th and 14th, respectively. Princess Anne has also moved down the ranking to 15th but Seward said the Princess Royal is likely more delighted about the push back.

The royal biographer said this line of succession is an issue with Meghan because she feels Harry and her son Archie, the seventh in line, are "so much less important" in the royal family. However, rumors from New Idea suggest that Meghan is still preparing her son for a future royal role.

While Meghan is now aware that Archie's place in the line of succession could go down once the Cambridge children have kids of their own, the Duchess of Sussex is said to be telling friends "anything can happen." So, she's still grooming her son for the royal life.

A source told the news outlet that if the "unthinkable" happens, Archie might have to return to England and fulfill an unexpected role. The source implied that "rank and power" have been the dream for Harry's wife. Meghan allegedly wants Harry to teach their son about the British kings and queens of the past, as well as the various traditions and protocols of royal life when the toddler is a little older.

It comes amid Meghan's row with Buckingham Palace over Archie's amended birth certificate. The simple clerical error involving the Duchess of Sussex's name in the document turned into a national issue in the U.K., fueling speculations about the Sussex pair's plans.

Royal expert Richard Myers blamed Meghan's spokesperson for adding fuel to the fire by releasing a scathing statement directed against Palace old-timers. Myers said that he doesn't understand why the clerical error became a "big issue" that made Meghan's problems with the royal family a lot worse.
