The Korean adaptation of Money Heist, the hit series on Netflix, has picked the actress who will star as the badass counterfeiter, Nairobi. Former model Jang Yoon Joo has, reportedly, nabbed the role, which will bill her alongside Yoo Ji Tae, as the Professor, and Kim Yun Jin, as the detective/Lisbon.

According to Allkpop, Jang was cast in the Korean remake of Money Heist because of her 2015 movie Veteran, where her acting skills impressed the viewers. Prior to doing films, Jang worked as a sought-after model and was the host and judge of Korea's Next Top Model for four cycles.

On the other hand, Yoo's casting as the Professor, the mastermind of the heist at the royal mint, has been rumored as early as August 2020 but his agency, BH Entertainment, hasn't officially confirmed the reports. BH Entertainment is the co-producer of the Korean remake of Money Heist. The series, which will span 12 episodes, will be directed by Kim Hong-sun and adapted by the writing team of Ryu Yong-jae.

Yoo isn't new to remakes as he also starred in the 2016 Korean adaptation of the U.S. TV series The Good Wife. But the actor also said that he will be entering graduate school at the Chung-Ang University this year to take up Film, Animation and Industry Policy Making, which could come in conflict with his work. The 45-year-old star even shared his graduate school application, per Korea Joong Ang Daily

Meanwhile, Kim's addition in the cast of the Money Heist adaptation has also been speculated since November. Fans said that she's likely play the role of the detective who tries to catch the Professor and his eight-men heist team. In the series, the detective eventually joins the robbing crew as Lisbon in the succeeding seasons.

Also rumored to be in the cast are Jeon Jong So as Tokyo and Park Hye Soo as Berlin.

Netflix confirmed that the Spanish-language series will be adapted in Korea with a statement from the show's creator Alex Pina. He is also on board the Korean project, serving as executive producer. Pina said in a statement that he's fascinated about Korean creators and delighted that his story will be set in the Korean Peninsula.

Money Heist premiered in the streaming platform in 2017 to 65 million global viewers. The Spanish production is currently wrapping up work on its fifth and final season.
